With vast experience in paediatrics, Lindelwa Ngumbela is well-equipped to assist you in monitoring and guiding your child’s development as they grow. A lot happens during the first 3 months of life, and while most babies are able to reach certain milestones easily - it’s not an exact science and many children develop at their own pace with no concerning issues.
Knowing the signs of developmental milestones is important - as your child moves through new phases of growth, you’ll begin to notice them becoming more independent. They will begin moving more on their own, you’ll notice changes in their vision and hearing and they’ll start reacting differently to different situations.
Your child may reach their milestones at different times for different reasons. It’s normal for children to reach different milestones at different times. There are some warning signs you should be aware of which may indicate developmental delays. If you notice any of these signs by the time your child is 3 months old, please give us a call to schedule an appointment:
- No improvement in head control
- No response to loud noises
- If your child doesn’t smile at people or the sound of your voice
- If your child doesn’t follow moving objects with their eyes
- If your child doesn’t grab objects with their hands
- If your child doesn’t notice their own hands
Every baby develops at their own pace - but trust your gut instincts. If you are concerned about your child’s development, please contact us to schedule an appointment
